Explanatory Answer | Q3 2018 Board Paper

Distance between two points A(x1, y1) and B(x2, y2) = \\sqrt{(x_2 - x_1)^2 + (y_2 - y_1)^2})
Let origin be Point A. So, (x1, y1) = (0, 0)
Let P(x, y) be point B. So, (x2, y2) = (x, y)
∴ distance between (x, y) and (0, 0) = \\sqrt{(x - 0)^2 + (y - 0)^2})
= \\sqrt{x^2 + y^2})
