ABCD is a rectangle

Opposite sides of a rectangle are equal
∴ x + y = 30 --------- (1)
x - y = 14 --------- (2)
Add (1) and (2)
x + y = 30
x - y = 14
2x = 44 or x = 22

Substitute x = 22 in (1)
22 + y = 30
y = 8
x = 22; y = 8
