Explanatory Answer | 2019 Sample Question Paper Q9

Coordinates of the point P(x, y) which divides the line segment joining the points A(x1, y1) and B(x2, y2) internally in the ratio m : n are

P(x, y) = (\\frac{m x_2 + n x_1}{m + n}) , \\frac{m y_2 + n y_1}{m + n}))

In this question, (x1, y1) = (-2, 5); (x2, y2) = (3, -5); m : n = 2 : 3

(\\frac{m x_2  + n x_1}{m  + n}) , \\frac{m y_2 + n y_1}{m + n})) = (x, y)

(\\frac{2(3) + 3(-2)}{2 + 3}) , \\frac{2(-5) + 3(5)}{2 + 3})) = (x, y)

(\\frac{6 - 6}{5}) , \\frac{-10 + 15}{5})) = (x, y)
(0, 1) = (x, y)
